At this time, there’s a good chance that your diet is severely inadequate when it comes to assuring you are in the best possible physical and mental health. Actually, there’s a good chance that your eating habits may be killing you. And if your habits are killing you as an entrepreneur and business owner, you sabotage your success.
And what is the offender here? The answer is worthless empty calories and processed nutrient-deficient foods.
The Diet Villains
These days, a considerable proportion of what we eat is ready prepared and ‘processed.’ That means that it has spent a considerable amount of time in a processing facility. As a result, the food bears little resemblance to what the ingredients initially looked like.
A good example is a bag of chips or crisps, which may not have many potatoes left in it at all. Chocolate is made from the cocoa bean, but the rest is processed. And ready-made lasagne will have had all the good fried out of it. Even worse, tons of salt, sugar, and bad fats added to try and keep it well preserved. Yuck!
All this means that you’re getting bad calories from your diet – calories that will provide you with energy highs and crashes, and then make you gain weight – but no nutrition.
Why We Need Quality Nutrition If We Want A Healthy Diet
It is a mistake to think of food only as fuel. Yes, calories are fuel, and they happen to be in our diet. But food is much more than that in its importance to our bodies.
Aside from also being a social event and a hobby, food should also be a source of raw materials for your body. This is what makes you eat part of a healthy diet as opposed to just fuel.
The saying that you ‘are what you eat’ is unmistakably genuine. When you eat any meat, fish, poultry, vegetables, etc. your body will break it down into its integral parts. Then it reassembles those parts to build your muscles, create enzymes, hormones, and even produce neurotransmitters (the chemicals that make our brain function).
Quality in equals quality out can only come from a nutritious diet stemming from healthy eating habits.

When you don’t get these things, you’ll find yourself feeling appreciably worse. If you aren’t taking in enough vitamin C, for example, then your immune system won’t be able to operate at its best, and you’ll be much more prone to get ill. Vitamin C is also critical for helping you to produce serotonin. Take that away and your mood will plummet. It also helps us sleep!
Likewise, when you don’t get enough omega 3 fatty acids, it can cause inflammation. This makes your joints ache, it creates brain fog, and it can lead to illness.
A lack of amino acids will mean that your muscles are weaker, smaller, and fatigue faster. And it will result in your skin looking an unhealthy grey and your nails being brittle.
The short term issues are deserving of a lot of concern, and more worrying is the negative effect on your body’s health in the long term. The damage is cumulative as well as in the end, you will be more likely to suffer from a range of diseases.
How To Approach Creating A Healthy Diet
Our formula should resemble something like this. Outline and create healthy eating habits. Consume quality food. Experience the benefits of great nutrition by having a healthy body. The end result is all fully support your business success by removing poor health as a challenge.
Think about each issue I highlighted in this article. The value of vitamin C, amino acids, and omega 3 fatty acids to your body. Don’t you think that as an entrepreneur and business owner you deserve better? Sleeping better, looking healthy, healing faster, better managing your weight, better fitness, and thinking more clearly are a foundational ally in your success? I think, yes!
The real answer is to stop thinking of food as only fuel. Instead, think about the quality of the fuel you’re injecting into your system. Find ways to get more nutritious food in your diet even if that means just adding a smoothie into your routine! Eating healthy benefits your body, mind, and business!
