My Top 10 Tips On How To Reinvent Yourself

“You must learn a new way to think before you can master a new way to be.”

— Marianne Williamson

At some time in our lives, the majority of us are presented with a unique opportunity.  How to reinvent yourself, also known as it is time for a change, is what you face. These are major career changes if you change your job, pursue entrepreneurship, or decide to open a small business.

Also, geography may stimulate your reinvention as you may have to transfer to a new town or nation. You can clean up all the loose ends in your recent past and march into a unique personality.

You can change your style of dress or lifestyle. This is an exceptionally refreshing time for those individuals who invite modification since it provides a reason and a purpose to change whatever at the same time. For an additional viewpoint on this topic, see the previous post Turn Your Passion Into Your Business.

If you look forward to the opportunity to evolve, think about these ten tips.

“How To Reinvent Yourself”

1. Avoid succumbing to what other people expect of you, think is affordable, practical, or proper.

The point here is to enjoy yourself. For example:

  • If you have actually been ‘the blue suit button-down shirt person’ all your life and wish to be more of a “Hawaiian or Thai Shirt” type, then do it.
  • If you have actually been ‘the modest no frills apartment person,’ and you secretly dreamed of a penthouse suite with views of the ocean, find one. So what that you may. have to leave your hometown!
  • And if you’ve constantly been the ‘Toyota sedan person’ but love the idea of driving a Chevy pick-up 4-wheeler, this is your time to shine. The world will see that you live life according to your own rules, and you can delight in every minute of it!
2. If you find yourself in a new position or place, this is a time to make new buddies.

Choose purposefully and sensibly. You don’t need to be everyone’s buddy.

  • Keep your inner circle manageable or on the “small side.” Feel people out and utilize these like-minded friends to sound out brand-new places and possible new hobbies too. Others will observe that you’re friendly but have a private side too.

3. Practice being a terrific listener.

If you actively listen, you’ll be astonished at what you can learn about the individuals around you, places, and whatever else. Ask plenty of questions. You’re new here, and others will anticipate that you want to ask questions. Ask some intelligent ones, then be quiet and listen.

  • A surprising perk of this method is that others will refer to you as a terrific conversationalist!
4. Take time to check out the location you’re in.

But, do it alone. You’ll notice and appreciate it more if you’re alone. Take pictures and make notes. It will make for excellent discussions later!

5. Be a great neighbor and community member.

Take some time to assist others. Embrace random acts of kindness at every opportunity.

  • Others will show appreciation and speak well of you, particularly if you assist them with no idea of a personal benefit. Do it since you can and for no other self-serving factors.
6. Stand up and speak out for things you want.

Let others know that you are both willing and capable of making your point, discussing an issue, or defending those who have no voice. People will observe that you are selfless and put others before yourself.

7. Get going early.

Please demonstrate that you have a zest for life and can’t wait to get at it every day. Walk rapidly and with purpose. Constantly be the very first to volunteer for everything.

  • You will win a few, and you will lose a few; however, in general, you will win because everybody will understand you as the one who is up for whatever.
8. Be generous with your praise for the people who have actually earned it.

Giving credit to others will demonstrate how much you value them, and it will come back to you significantly.

9. Keep yourself fit and healthy.

Set a top-level example. You don’t need to go “coo coo” – just consume healthy foods, drink a lot of water, and do some kind of exercise that raises your heart rate for a minimum of 20-30 minutes each daily. For example, I’m a pescatarian, and I drink approximately 100 ounces of water daily and exercise daily, even if it means simply taking a 30-minute walk.

  • The pay-off is phenomenal. Others will notice you and be motivated, which, in turn, will inspire you to continue.
10. Thank others – for all they do, all the time.

Show your gratitude to as many individuals as you can, as often as possible. Many people are starved of “thanks for a job well done.”

Too many share their wisdom or show their compassion but receive little or no acknowledgment. Which, of course, can be discouraging to continuing their positive behavior in the future.

  • Most individuals will appreciate and never forget you if you show them gratitude for good words and deeds.

Our mind runs on auto-pilot most of the time since how we appear in life is directed by our subconscious mind. Amazing things can occur when you turn the job over to your mindful mind and actually put some belief into it.

Individuals’ understanding of you can alter for the positive in a heartbeat if you use any of these leading ten tips on how to reinvent yourself. If you use all 10 of these tips, you will certainly be an entirely different person – one you purposely developed. Try it – you’ll like it!

Conclusion – How To Reinvent Yourself

We don’t always notice that reinvent themselves all the time, whether to take on a new challenge, transition into more meaningful employment, or refute misconceptions that have hampered their professional advancement. Shifts can be dramatic at times (an IT manager moves into retail, and an Investment Banker becomes a life coach).

Sometimes the repackaging is subtle, as in the case of an executive who wants to progress but must combat the stigma of being “bad with numbers.” Having control of your personal brand might be the dividing line between unsatisfying work and a meaningful and possibly lucrative career.  Now that you know how to reinvent yourself take charge and move forward!
